Colombia Turns Rebels into Civilians

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Colombia has developed a process to reintegrate former rebel soldiers into civilian life as a way to promote peace, according to Hispanic Link. Colombia’s high commissioner for peace and high counselor for social and economic reintegration Frank Pearl, based in Bogotá, described the process to Weekly Report. To date, 50,000 former anti-government combatants have become involved in the integration process, which is gaining attention nationally.
