International Daily News, Posted: Oct 29, 2009
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Chinese American Census Committee was set up on Oct. 27 with a mission to generate an accurate count of Chinese population in the larger Los Angeles area, reports the International Daily News. Sun Guotai, vice president of the Chinese-American Elected Officials organization in Southern California, said the new committee is responsible for strengthening outreach efforts and providing survey assistance to local Chinese American residents. Chinese populations in the California towns of Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Alhambra and Arcadia are growing rapidly, according to U.S. Census outreach specialist Li Zhouling. The committee aims to make sure everyone in their community is counted, regardless of immigration status.
