Ethnic and mainstream media cover the first multilingual poll of California immigrants on the language barriers they face when accessing health care. This poll – funded by the California Endowment as part of a 2-year campaign to raise awareness among ethnic Californians about language access issues – enables the voices of immigrant communities to be heard on this important subject.

The challenge for our 21st Century Health Care Leaders is the ability to manage health care diversity. This poll information sets a strong foundation on which strategies, systems and processes can be created to enhance quality health care to ethnic communities.
-->Recognizing this challenge has lead to the creation of the "Center for Applied Health Communications" at Newbridge College. Our director of the center, Dr. Jose Calderon, has extensive experience in health literacy and cultural appropriate clinical care management systems.
It is through efforts such as this and others that efficiency and effectiveness will be achieved in health care delivery resulting in health disparity reductions.
